Threads and seals fail quietly. A stripped head thread shows as a head that will not seat square, or one that tightens and then slips back. A worn seal shows as a faint gas smell at the joint, a flame that flickers when you move the torch, or bubbles when you soap-test the connection.

Any of those means stop and sort it before lighting again. A leaking gas connection is not a small problem, and tightening harder is the wrong fix - a stripped seat is how blowtorches end up retired.
